God’s Blanket

Rushing here, rushing there,
no time to rest, no time to spare.
Always wishing, always dreaming,
never living, never beaming.

Temperatures rising from with-in
fighting sickness, cannot win.
Freezing cold, freezing rain,
canceled functions, life’s a pain.

Where’s the vision, where’s the light,
where’s the answers, out of sight?
Too much worry, too much stress,
so many directions, so much mess.

It came so quickly, it piled so deep
it stopped the moving, it let us sleep.
Working’s stunted, studies halted,
Oh, for so many, God is exalted.

God’s blanket was needed, it came just in time,
to slow down the pace and give rest to the mind.
At first it did bother, until those who could see,
God gave us a present, so priceless and free.

We slid on its surface, its depths we would dive,
we rolled it, we threw it, it brought us alive.
We ate it, we packed it, we shoveled it high,
we laid on our backs and gave a big sigh.

The noises were muffled, our visions were brightened,
was God’s blanket to us, here to enlighten?
Amid all this chaos, could there be a cease?
Look out your window and there you’ll find peace.

Take off what blinds you, let go of the pain,
take in God’s treasures, there is everything to gain.
God’s blanket came to stop us and let us restart.
Embrace what is given, let it come from the heart.
