Dressed For The Night
Young boys and girls get dressed for the night,
Some clad to please you, while others cause fright.
Walking together by twos, threes and fours,
Hoping for goodies as they knock on the doors.
When the doors open, they shout their ‘demands’,
While raising the bags they hold in their hands.
“How cute. and “How scary.” the grownups reply,
As they give out the treasures from bowls just inside.
The kid’s eyes grow wider as they haul in the loot,
Saying thanks as they turn, to the next door they scoot.
With all the doors knocked on their begging’s complete
It’s home now they head, to rest their young feet.
With all of their goodies dumped out on the floor,
Some kids will say, “I wish there was more.”
No matter the bounty from homes on the street,
Getting free candy is always a treat.
Life in a town is a wonderful sight,
When young boys and girls get dressed for the night.
