Great Game

Dedicated to my brother,
Terry (T-Boy)
b. 12 Aug 1951 d. 24 June 2006

As your eyes closed in peace
in the light of the setting sun,
my memories opened up
to the days of having fun.

With few games to play, between the old walls
Monopoly ruled the night,
From Hearts to Spades, Crazy Eights to War
not ending sometimes til light.

Basketball played from the ends of the stairs
paper football on the kitchen table,
Bowling on wood floors into our small bedroom closet
throwing darts, all before cable.

A pizza for each and a gallon of milk
watching movies, one after one,
the late night host, after drinking his beer
was quite toasted, when the last show was done.

But, outdoors is where we loved playing the most
wearing down grass, spring, summer and fall,
throwing TDs, serving aces, hitting homers and then links
and maybe catching your wicked knuckle ball.

I was your best man, and later, you were mine
raising two daughters each with our brides,
new games were started as we continued our own
with a few roller coastering rides.

I feel blessed and honored for the times we had spent
cheering on and helping each other,
you were a teacher, a leader, a coach and a friend
to many and me, and my brother.

Now, when I go out on the field or the court
I silently raise up your name,
Terry, I love you and miss you a lot
T-Boy, you played a great game!
