Nocturnal Serenade

The day’s light lowers behind the stage
cuing all to find their place.
With blanket down I scan the sky,
as darkness shades my face.

A lone lit orb begins to rise
first amber then to white,
it casts its beam upon the stage
to shine its stars this night.

With eager calm I lie in wait
for the curtain to depart,
and then to my wanting ears be filled
by the Maestro’s magnificent art.

Haah-Rum…Haah-Rum…Haaahh-Rumm.
Briget…Briget, briget…Briget, briget…Briget.
Briget, Haah-Rum…Briget,briget, Haah-Rum…
Briget, briget, Haaahh-Rumm…Briget.

Briget, Haah-Rum…Briget,Haugh-OOOOOOH.

The water’s edge had come to life
with patterned sounds entwined
Til high on cliff a bay sound’s heard,
leaving some on stage resigned.

As night went on the chorus grew
each sound unlike the rest.
Excitement rose as did my heart
As it pounded in my chest.

Music filled the air all night
til every star was shown,
and when the orb began to fade
one star was left alone.

Haah-Rum…Haah-Rum…Haaahh-Rumm.

Today I thought of nights well spent
as I sat there in the shade,
having ears filled by the Maestro’s art:
the Nocturnal Serenade.
