It’s Nice To See You
It’s nice to see you
my little friend
whose name is longer
from end to end.
You’re not like others
you dine alone
and leave no mess
no food is thrown.
While the others have
a song to sing
you stay real quiet
it’s not your thing.
I sit and listen
without a word
it’s nice to see you
sweet hummingbird.
This Mirror Upon The Door
Every day you look at me
yet, I wonder who you see.
You use to make me smile with yours
now, they come infrequently.
You stare as though you’re in a daze
no emotion in your face,
and I wonder if you’d rather be
far off in another place.
As I watch you in this bland routine
staring blankly right at me,
I want to yell and call your name
and tell you who I see.
Wake up! Wake up, and look at me!
Have you forgotten it is I?
Look beyond this glass that reflects the same
and see deep into my eyes.
I am you and you are me
we’re more than mere reflections,
unleash the life that hides inside
rise above the imperfections.
Release the smiles and seize the day
don’t waste a minute more,
life’s too short to confine oneself
to this mirror upon the door.
